The Area

The English Riviera - even those three words have a touch of magic about them - is a resort in the truest sense of the word, attracting visitors of all ages and interests throughout the year.

The English Riviera includes Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, with Dartmouth, Dawlish and Teignmouth close by. It is one part of Britain where every member of the family can find something to please. Whether you're into the great outdoors, history, lolling on a beach, sports, or sightseeing, you will find something to suit.

English Riviera Map

There are 22 miles of coastline, cliffs, coves and beaches and walks to rival any in the South West of England, with a climate that belongs somewhere much further south.

Stunning views are to be seen just about everywhere across the Bay, out over the English Channel, along the 40 miles of Lyme Bay to Portland Bill or inland towards the Tors of Dartmoor.

It's always been a popular option, but today, taking a holiday break in the UK has become an even more attractive prospect as we begin to re-discover the immense beauty of the British Isles. There's a lot to be said for not having to spend long hours in airport queues, worrying about passports, phrase books, visas and currency.

And in Britain, getting there is simple. So could there be a finer destination than the English Riviera?

Whatever your tastes, the exotic, the quaint, the unusual, or just old good-natured, seaside fun, a break in a location such as the English Riviera will remind you how lucky we British are - because it's all here, right on our own doorsteps.
